Dining Room Chalkboard

Do you have the same obsession that I do? If it's stalking scrolling through Shannon's blog, Bless Our Nest then we have one more thing in common! I soak in so much inspiration from her tutorials and ideas it's unreal. I'm thankful she's taken the time to come over and share  a tutorial with us today! I have an unhealthy love for chalkboard paint, so this tutorial is right up my alley! Thanks Shannon for feeding into my obsession, now I have to go buy another can of paint! Enjoy getting inspired!

I was completely inspired by Miss Mustard Seed's dining room chalkboard. I never would have thought to put a chalkboard in the dining room but hers looked great so I decided to try it. I'm so glad I did!

I took a picture off our living room wall that I did not like to make the chalkboard. We've had it for 5 years and bought it at Oops so it wasn't like it was a priceless antique. :)

I painted the frame with a couple coats of white paint we had in our garage.

While the white paint was drying I put a couple coats of chalkboard paint right on the glass. I didn't even mess with taking the picture out.

Once the frame was dry, I sanded the edges a little and put a "glaze" on it. When I say glaze I mean watered down acrylic craft paint. :) I brushed it on with a foam brush and wiped it off with a paper towel until I got the color that I wanted. I let it all dry overnight and then hung it on the wall.

Cody said, "of course you had to hang a plate over it." ;) I googled "dining room quotes" and this is one that I liked. Maybe it will inspire me to actually do what it says! Ha! (you can click on the pic to see it better) I just love all the inspiration found in blogland!
